Japanese Imperial Guard cavalry private uniform in the regulation of 1886. Unlike the cavalry units of yellow dolmans in regular divisions, the Imperial Guard cavalry units below the rank of officers used red dolmans and red band caps. Although it was obsoleted in 1906, similar design uniforms were used in enthronement ceremonies of the Emperor Taisho and the Emperor Showa.
